Role
Working for this Australian business as the Systems Programmer, you will be responsible for all administration and support of Z/OS in a Sysplex environment on the mainframe. You will maintain a stable operating system environment for business applications and support the system utilities, software development libraries and third party software.
Responsibilities
- Analyse available monitoring tools to ensure systems performance conforms to service levels
- Debug systems issues
- Install, configure, test, implement and monitor mainframe systems software and hardware components
- Monitor systems resources to ensure that software is operating within established performance guidelines
- Prepare documentation
- Assist with project implementations to ensure necessary infrastructure support is adequate
- Assist with day-to-day problem analysis and debugging as necessary
- Provide technical support to other areas of IT regarding the use of Z/OS tools and utilities
- Provide the highest possible levels of system availability
- Assist in capacity planning, system deployment and decommissioning
Experience
- Ten years' experience directly related to Systems Programming
- Knowledge of infrastructure maintenance best practice processes and change-management procedures
- IBM and related mainframe skill set in z/OS, SMP/E, DFHSM, REXX, JES2, TSO/E, ISPF/PDF, SMS, TCP/IP, RACF, CICS, DB2, MQSeries, COBOL, JCL/Proc/Parm/Copybooks, VPS, NetMaster, Net/Mail, MAI, Auto-operator and Sysview
- Performance and capacity skills as it relates to z/OS
- Experience with logical partitions (LPAR)
- Independent decision-making capability and pro-active problem-solving skills.
- Good business, systems and process analysis skills.
- Able to troubleshoot and quickly resolve server issues on critical business systems.
- Good understanding of operating systems principals and corollary technologies.
- Good understanding of system backup and recovery methods and techniques including disaster recovery processes.
Ability to be on-call 24x7 will be required on a rostered basis
