Peoplebank are currently recruiting for a Program Director to work in Adelaide (must be able to work and live in South Australia for the duration of the contract) on an initial 8 month contract, working in the Government sector.

As a Program Director, you will responsible for guiding initiatives, products and services through program prioritisation framework in a large and complex enterprise environment. Indeed, the Program Director works with Product and Service delivery Teams to initiate the development activities necessary to realize the business outcomes. Following initiation, the Program Director has responsibilities for stewardship and transparency of the initiative to the Program Board.


Responsibilities include

  • The Program Director's responsibilities begin early in the product and service life cycle and using initiatives to improve the product and services to benefit the stakeholders. They include:
    • Working with stakeholders and subject matter experts to define an initiative using the 'product/service improvement canvas'
    • Working with internal teams and external Suppliers to develop cost estimates to size the initiatives, products and services
    • Provide input for economic prioritization based on outcome value, the Lean business case, and other relevant factors
    • Shepherding initiatives through the portfolio Kanban system and creating the Lean business case
    • Supporting presentation of the Lean business case to Program Governance for a go/no-go decision
    • Identifying key KPIs and metrics that demonstrate program success and risk and ensuring these are monitored within agreed thresholds for the Program Board
    • Supporting the program Board chair meeting requirements of the Digital Health Board
  • Implementation - once the initiative is approved, Program Directors:
    • Collaborate with Product and Solution Management and System and Solution Architects / Engineering to decompose the initiative into features and capabilities and help prioritize these backlog items in their respective program and solution backlogs
    • Participate in Program Increment (PI) Planning, System Demo, and Solution Demo, whenever there is critical activity related to the epic
    • Work with Agile Teams that perform research spikes, create proofs of concept, mock-ups, etc
    • Coordinate and synchronize epic-related activities with other business units
    • Understand and report on the progress of the epic's MVP with key stakeholders and Program Governance, as needed, the implementation of the epic through the continuous delivery pipeline and release on demand
    • The role of the Program Director is considered complete when the Program outcomes and scope is largely complete and Product & Service management can return to a BAU and CI model.

To be suitable for this role, you must have demonstrable Program Management / Program Director level experience, working in complex, enterprise scale environments, where you can demonstrate an excellent track record of successful Program delivery and transformative change.
