Our Federal Government Client is seeking an Assistant Manager ETL/BI Developer

This is a 12-month non-ongoing APS engagement at the EL1 level, with potential for a 6-month extension. The position is located in Canberra, A.C.T., with other locations considered where a departmental office exists.

Australian Citizenship is required, and a baseline security clearance will be required.

As an EL1 Assistant Manager ETL/BI Developer, your tasks include:

  • SQL: Design, develop, and implement changes to our SQL database.
  • ETL maintenance and enhancements: Design, develop, and implement changes to our ETL.
  • Data modelling/fusion: Look after data integrity and build data models. Combine external data sources (think ABR and ASIC data) with venture capital insights.
  • Technical documentation: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation.
  • Working on projects: Exciting projects lie ahead! We're moving our on-premise solution to the Azure cloud. Craft dazzling reports and turn data into compelling narratives for our business area, executives, the committee, and the curious public.
  • Applying critical thinking: Analyze data, link it to program requirements, and challenge ideas.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders: Work with private companies, team members, and departmental stakeholders. Your ability to engage is important. Work with ICT areas-database administrators, security experts, and data management-to build robust solutions.

Our ideal candidate must have the following capabilities:

  • SQL proficiency
  • Previous experience in ETL development
  • Knowledge of BI Tools such as Power BI, Report Builder, Excel
  • Data management/cleansing/modelling
  • Skills in, or an interest in learning visual communication
  • Strategic thinking and creative problem-solving
  • Results-focused mindset, combined with teamwork skills
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and resilience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

We highly desire someone who has:

  • A curiosity to learn new skills and technologies
  • Experience in developing tools for government policy or regulation
  • Qualification in technology
