Our Federal Government Client is looking for Software Developers. They seek Javascript Developers to join multi-disciplinary teams to deliver superior agile programming capability implementing Javascript applications with an emphasis on design, optimisation and user experience.

The Department values their developer's communication skills and their ability to work directly from the problem-statement at-par with the individual's technical acumen. Their developers are active members of our Product squads/MDT's, and are deeply involved with problem discovery, liaising with BAs, UX Designers, Solution Architects, User Researchers, Service Designers etc on a daily basis.

The Department is seeking applications for Front-End, Back-End and Full Stack Developers

Key Deliverables:

  • Design and improve software that meets the user needs prioritised by the team.
  • Write clear, secure and well-tested code that's easy for others to re-use.
  • Work with other team members to understand what needs to be built.
  • Operate the services developed by the team and identify issues in production.
  • Collaborates with other developers to continually improve the overall quality of the codebase.
  • Create simple solutions that meet user needs with both frontend and backend technologies
  • Deliver and produce a test-driven or behaviour-driven development and continuous integration / continuous delivery cadence

Skills & Experience

  • Excellent communication skills, ability to understand business requirements and present solutions to business stakeholders in a non-technical language
  • Strong experience with client-side JavaScript frameworks like React.js and backend JavaScript technologies including Node and Express.js
  • Experience with other JS tools and libraries highly regarded, eg. Webpack, Babel, and Jasmine
  • Strong experience with HTML, CSS and SASS
  • Specific knowledge of common web security issues and how to avoid them
  • Experience developing and iterating software in agile multi-disciplinary teams
  • Strong understanding of common patterns for developing maintainable and scalable web applications
  • Understand how web applications are operated in production (eg. familiarity with platform-as-a-service and building twelve-factor apps)
  • Strong team player

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications

Mandatory:

The role has an initial 12-month contract with a possible 12-month contract extension. It is the Client's preference for the work to be done in either their office in Canberra or Sydney. In office and working from home arrangements can be discussed

Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian citizens who can obtain Federal Government Security Clearances.
