Our Federal Government Client is looking for a Content Designer.

The department continues to build significant digital capability within the program. They seek a content designer to work on researching, designing and managing content. This role works across a number of areas within the program, including:

  • Streamlining exporters' auditing experience through aligning policy and requirements, harmonising data labels and checklists, and making report templates and other artefacts easier to use.
  • Improving the online registration and approvals experience, ​for clients and staff to be export ready.

The roles will focus on simplifying and bringing consistency to content that enables the interactions between exporters and their markets.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work with other disciplines in the assigned multi-disciplinary team to create content that is easy for users to understand, at the time that they need it.
  • Devise appropriate content format for a given need (for example, a content page, tool or calculator) based on research and prototypes.
  • Look across all channels - the website, the transaction, advertising or print - to ensure content is consistent, concise and necessary.
  • Collaborate closely with the user researcher, service designer, developer and others to embed content into the right point in the user journey.

Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience as a content designer on large-scale digital transformation programs
  • Strong track record working in an agile, multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Demonstrable capability in writing clear and easy-to-read content
  • The ability to break down complex subject areas and simplify them
  • Evidence based background in prototyping. testing and iterating content
  • Strong track record in collaborating with developers, designers, user researchers and policy staff - public sector experience highly regarded
  • Clear understanding of the role of content in and around a digital service and the key accessibility considerations for content
  • Track record in developing content strategy in large enterprise environments will highly regarded
  • Experience working with the Digital Service Standard
  • Strong team player and outcome focussed
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications

Mandatory:

  • Extensive experience as a content designer on large-scale digital transformation programs
  • Strong track record working in an agile, multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Demonstrable capability in writing clear and easy-to-read content
  • The ability to break down complex subject areas and simplify them

Desirable:

  • Experience in developing content strategy

The role has an initial 12-month contract with a possible 12-month contract extension. The work can be done at the Client's offices in either Canberra or Sydney, and in office and working from home arrangements can be discussed.

Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian citizens who can obtain Federal Government Security Clearances.
