Our Federal Government Client is seeking a Technology Procurement Lawyer for a large program of work.

The role will be suitable for a mid-level commercial and technology lawyer to work as part of a high-performing and collaborative team of lawyers and other professionals.

As the selected candidate, you will:

  • Providing legal advice on technology, commercial and procurement transactions, with a focus on protecting and advancing the Commonwealth's and Bureau's objectives
  • Preparing and reviewing documentation in relation to tender processes, such as contract documentation and tender evaluation reports
  • Participate in contract negotiations and preparation of complex contractual documentation under the supervision of Principal Lawyers in the legal team
  • Liaising and developing collaborative relationships with other lawyers, other members of the project teams and with external stakeholders to achieve outcomes and facilitate cooperation
  • Provide timely advice and guidance to the project teams in relation to procurement, compliance with Commonwealth legislation, the agency and Commonwealth policies and probity
  • Prioritise and manage multiple matters
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, ensuring quality output in tight timeframes
  • monitoring emerging legal issues and identifying potential impacts on priorities and outcomes, contributing to risk management activities within the area of responsibility

To be successful in this role, you should have experience in:

  • A qualified lawyer holding a current Australian practising certificate or eligible to obtain one
  • 3 to 6 years' post admission experience
  • Experience in procurement, IT contracting and associated drafting and probity
  • Experience in complex, managed service IT contracts
  • Experience in a government setting, preferable the Commonwealth Government

Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian Citizens who currently hold or are able to gain an Australian Government security clearance
