Our client, a telecom industry leader, is looking for an experienced project manager to handle a significant programme.
This is an exciting time to join their Melbourne team.

About the role

The Project Manager is in charge of overseeing the delivery and implementation of upgrades to an existing government voice radio network. This will incorporate a radio as well as IT networking and application improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Act as primary customer contact for radio system enhancement design and implementation project activities, leading workshops and project review sessions within Motorola and with customers. Communicate project status with customers, project team and business managers on a regular basis.
  • Manage customer expectations across multiple customers and obtain agreement of both the design and implementation activities.
  • Coordinate, manage, monitor and control within schedule, cost and technical constraints.
  • Develop and maintain project schedule including, as required:
  • project work breakdown structure
  • project statement of work
  • project schedule
  • resource plan
  • complete projects in accordance with contracts, subject to external constraints, and advise customers of potential delinquency
  • develop and maintain project risk management plan
  • identify, negotiate, task and monitor appropriate resources
  • maintain close liaison with customer project staff
  • Review and ensure unambiguous specification of requirements and to identify changes in scope from the original proposal.
  • Identify and develop opportunities for enhancing project scope through contract changes.
  • Identify and manage third party service providers for use in system solutions. Assess the capabilities of vendors and vendors' products and services to satisfy a complete system implementation.
  • Participate in the negotiation of contract and contract changes.
  • Develop and maintain project financial documentation


Skills and experience

  • Demonstrated success with multi-disciplinary experience in project/program management within the telecommunication industry.
  • Experience in networking IT design and implementation.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in P roles.
  • Recent experience in large communications / infrastructure projects .
  • Contract and financial management experience.
  • Understanding Public Safety requirements, IT application and IT database development and deployment.
  • Familiarity with government multi agency shared systems
  • PRINCE2 practitioner experience.
