Our Federal Government Client is seeking for a Geospatial Analyst to engage in work scoping, sourcing, and optimising of data for analysis. This role will apply innovative analysis techniques and model results and scenarios, while maintaining the integrity of the Client's system.

The Geospatial Analyst will support day-to-day operations of GIS functions for the Client, determining geospatial architecture priorities, developing guidance, providing geospatial assistance on project related activities and undertaking troubleshooting analysis and resolution for incidents and new GIS capability. They will liaise and collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements, provide geospatial analysis, advise tools available, and the use of location data with geospatial toolsets available in the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW).

Responsibilities

  • Lead location-based analytics functions in conjunction with the Client's Analytics Branch, consistent with the Client's Strategic Intent.
  • Coordinate and liaise with key geospatial stakeholders across the Department.
  • Work with end users to identify GIS requirements, technical issues and training needs; analyse current business processes and recommend best practice solutions.
  • Conduct technical troubleshooting for geospatial related matters arising in the EDW domain and provide technical insight and recommendations regarding spatial data and spatial metadata standards.
  • Assist in day-to-day operations of GIS functions in Health, determining geospatial architecture priorities, developing guidance, providing geospatial assistance on project related activities and undertaking troubleshooting analysis and resolution for incidents and where new GIS capability is required.
  • Provide support and technical advice regarding geospatial analysis techniques, GIS analysis tools available, and the use of location data with geospatial toolsets available in the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW).
  • Liaise with IT Operations, GIS Administrator and relevant stakeholders regarding appropriate scheduling for software upgrades, patching and installation of new software in various environments required for adequate maintenance and functioning of the Client's geospatial toolset.
  • Responsible for managing the Client's MyEsri/IQ Office account and associated online training services for Departmental staff and preparing Quick Reference Guides and material required to support the Client's geospatial users.
  • Responsible for development of strategies for integrating GIS applications with other applications in the EDW environment.
  • Responsible for preparation of appropriate documentation such as design specifications, user guides and handover documentation.
  • Manage productive stakeholder relationships and associated risks;
  • Develop an agreed work plan including key performance indicators and outcomes

Required Skills and Experience:

Essential

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver Geospatial solutions and support through the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile development practices and processes (for each of the specific roles defined)
  • 5+ years' experience working and exhibiting knowledge (for the specific role defined)
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and capacity to communicate and work effectively within a multi-disciplined and blended team environment
  • Relevant qualifications/certification/accreditation (for each of the specific roles defined)
  • Experience and knowledge of Enterprise Data Warehouses (EDW) and associated technologies (such as Teradata, Informatica, Hadoop, SAS, Cognos, Qlik, Oracle etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to query and interpret data using efficient and effective SQL and provide sound advice on complex data/information related matters to deliver quality solutions.

Desirable

  • Practical skills in developing data management design artifacts, including developing mapping documents for builds in support of business processes and objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability in the development and/or directing the creation of efficient, maintainable and cost/effective databases.
  • Demonstrated skill to prepare and/or direct the creation and maintenance of data management documentation.
  • Experience in the following,
  • SQL for data analysis
  • Data modelling - dimensional and ERD, and awareness of data vault
  • Various database platforms (i.e. Oracle, SQL Server)
  • XML schema design, ER Studio or similar
  • Data management principles such as Metadata management, Data governance and Data quality
  • Inspires leadership through the ability to define and meet the expectations of the role.

The role has an initial 12-month contract with possible 12-month contract extension. The services will be performed by the Specified Personnel from the Canberra/Brisbane office. Minimum 3 full days per week in the office (or as applicable to your specific work order).
