Job Title: Senior SQL Administrator
Location: Canberra/ Remote
Duration: 12 months with possible extension

Provide technical support and advice for SQL, predominately Microsoft SQL Server databases and infrastructure used by the client which includes a range of Microsoft SQL server based applications in both internal and DMZ domains.

Duties
* Provide high level technical support in the current versions of the following products:
* Microsoft Windows Server and related infrastructure (DNS, DHCP)
* Microsoft Server Operating Systems 2012/2012R2/2016/2019
* Microsoft Clustering
* Microsoft SQL Server 2014/2016/2017/2019/2022
* Azure Cloud based SQL solutions including SQL MI and SQL PaaS
* Microsoft Windows PowerShell / PowerShell DSC
* Azure Cloud Technologies and templating using JSON / YAML
* VMware vSphere ESX including vCentre
* Dell Server Hardware (R and MX Series) including DRAC and OME
* Provide on-line maintenance, fault diagnosis and the identification and implementation of remedial action including monitoring and reporting as required
* Provide support and mentoring to technical resources within the team as well as prospective partners and stakeholders.
* Develop new technical solutions and processes in accordance with design standards that best suit ACT Government business requirements as well as prepare, review, and maintain technical documentation, under limited direction.
* Provide feedback and reporting to Senior Management on the customer experience and gather feedback on new desired features and capabilities.
* This position does not involve direct supervision of staff.

Professional / Technical Skills and Knowledge
1. Demonstrated experience of 3 to 5 years in system administration in a Microsoft Enterprise environment. This should include experience in both traditional server hardware environments as well as virtualised and cloud environments.
2. Expert level experience is required in the Microsoft technology stack. Applicants will be required to have demonstrated experience Microsoft SQL and Azure Cloud based SQL solutions. Additional experience in one or more of the following speciality areas would be highly advantageous:
* Microsoft Windows Server and related infrastructure (DNS, DHCP)
* Microsoft Server Operating Systems 2012/2012R2/2016/2019/2022
* Microsoft Clustering
* Microsoft IIS
* Microsoft Windows PowerShell / PowerShell DSC
* Azure Cloud Technologies and templating using JSON
3. In addition to the above demonstrated experience applicants will need to be able to employ their expert knowledge as it applies to the development, implementation, and support of SQL based technology solutions in both an on-premises VMWare environment and an Azure Cloud environment.
4. Demonstrated experience in the support and monitoring tools used to implement and monitor Windows based solutions. This may include the design and implementation of these systems as well as day to day use in the maintenance of the wider environment.
5. Ability to consistently display commitment to high quality customer service principles and practices.
6. Well-developed influencing and negotiation skills, including developing and maintaining productive and collaborative working relationships with customers, team members, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
7. Demonstrated experience of delivery of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework or completion of the ITIL Foundation Certificate would be advantageous.
