The Senior Gateway Engineer will be required to use their in-depth knowledge of specific ICT Platforms to provide expert advice on the management and maintenance of those platforms. They will work closely with key third party suppliers to ensure the provision of a robust gateway infrastructure capability for the business
Primary Technologies: Palo Alto, Checkpoint and Cisco Firewalls, F5 Load Balancer, Cisco ASR Routers, Cisco Catalyst and Nexus Switches, Infoblox/BlueCat DNS/DHCP Services, Cisco Email Security, IPSEC VPN, Cisco and Ixia Network Packet Broker, Linux Administration.
Responsibilities
- assist with delivery of an optimal strategic system landscape
- manage the design, installation and operation of the ICT system instance landscape
- provide broad technical support for project build, test and solution deployment activities
- configure and manage all non-functional platform capabilities
- liaise with the infrastructure team in the design, procurement and deployment of hardware
- manage the regular maintenance of patches and support packages for all technical layers
- manage the operation of backup, high availability and disaster recovery solutions
- manage technical operations for ICT solutions and interfaces
- develop plans for backups and disaster recovery, and execute those plans when necessary
- develop staff capability through coaching, mentoring and succession planning
- prepare and review a range of technical documentation and reports
Required Skills & Experience
- A current security clearance of at least Negative Vetting Level 1
- At least five (5) years demonstrated experience in the design, build, deployment, troubleshooting and management of Palo Alto and Panorama firewall appliances
- Demonstrated experience of network firewalls including Palo Alto, Checkpoint and Cisco firewalls.
- Demonstrated experience in migrating other vendor firewalls to Palo Alto firewall
- Demonstrated experience in the design and integration of secure internet gateway environments.
- Experience in the design and deployment of network infrastructure including Cisco data centre routers, switches, BGP and OSPF routing protocols.
- Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of VPN technology.
- Experience in the development and maintenance of system architecture and design documentation.
- Experience in the use of automation tools for deployment of changes and automating operational procedures.
- Demonstrated experience with or knowledge of Australian Government information security policies, the ASD Information Security Manual and Essential Eight.
