Our client is an influential entity dedicated to environmental conservation and management.
The role:
We are seeking a Technical Specialist (Radio and Networks) to join our client's team for a 4-month engagement, with potential for a departmental contract and permanent placement.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning, development, installation, and configuration of IT networks.
- Monitor network performance, conduct audits, and ensure optimal corporate network operations.
- Contribute to telecommunications support for marine, aerial, and terrestrial operations.
- Undertake routine and complex installation and maintenance of telecommunications networks.
- Provide technical support, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvements.
Key experience:
- Work experience in complex, geographically diverse IT environments.
- Familiarity with IT service management practices, such as ITIL.
- Possession of a valid "C" class driver's license within Western Australia.
Desirable experience:
- Tertiary qualifications and/or industry certifications in a related IT/Security discipline.
- Working knowledge of industry standard security frameworks (e.g., ASD Essential 8, ASD ISM, NIST Cyber Security Framework, ISO/IEC 27000-series) and IT service management practices (e.g., ITIL).
- Understanding of occupational safety, health, equity, and diversity principles.
- Willingness and ability to travel to department sites in Western Australia, including isolated areas.
- Demonstrated Level 4 capabilities according to the Public Sector Commission's WA Public Sector Capability Framework.
- Ongoing willingness and ability to participate in fire management activities and maintain required skills and capabilities for 24/7/52 support of IT systems and services.
Technical Experience Required:
- Troubleshooting, deployment, configuration, and planning experience in a complex environment.
- Exposure to Meraki, Cisco, Microsoft Azure, and Unifi technologies is ideal.
- Proactive and quick learner, with radio experience as a nice-to-have.
- Familiarity with WAN technologies such as Microwave, MPLS, NBN, fiber, 4G, 5G, and satellite.
- Strong documentation skills for network diagrams and upgrades planning.
