Our client is an Australian government financial intelligence agency, seeking for a Platform Engineer


About the role


Note: as the role is with a federal government agency, only Australian citizens will be shortlisted.


The Platforms Engineer position, sits within a team of skilled platform engineers, within the agency's Technology and Platform Solutions (TPS) division, part of the ITS branch.


The team has operational accountability and responsibility for designing, deploying, monitoring and patching foundational applications. The team is also responsible to work with the various project teams to deliver new and updated business applications into production, with majority of new applications being deployed onto Kubernetes.


All activities are required to follow modern Infrastructure as Code practices, leveraging automated CI/CD pipelines for deployments.


The production environment is currently run on the agency's managed hardware (i.e. all production infrastructure is on premise). Cloud infrastructure is in its infancy however will grow over the length of the contract. The agency's network is classified as Protected, so security risk identification and mitigation are a key focus area for the team.

Skills Required:

  • Kubernetes platform deployment experience (ideally with Kubespray)
  • Ansible skills
  • Infrastructure as code deployment experience onto Kubernetes (ideally with Kustomize)
  • Git source control knowledge.
  • Extensive experience with Linux operating systems (ideally Ubuntu)


    Desirable:
  • Apache Proxy with mod security.
  • Forgerock OpenAM/IDM/DS.
  • Additionally holding a Certificated Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) certification would be looked on favourably
