Our Federal Government client is seeking a Java Developer!

This is a contract role (up to 30 June 2024, with a potential 6-month extension), located in Canberra. Remote work arrangements can be discussed with the specified personnel's manager upon commencement, and a Working from Home Agreement must be formalised.

As the selected Java Developer, you will:

  • Collaborate with a small, Agile team to develop business solutions using the SDLC framework.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Drive innovation by staying current with industry trends and best practices.
  • Partner with business stakeholders in co-design, co-build, and co-deliver phases for front-end applications.
  • Effectively communicate with team members and stakeholders.
  • Deliver quality work within defined timelines and meet agreed-upon standards.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Proven ability to develop business solutions through the SDLC and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience working in a small, Agile development team.
  • Strong Java programming skills,including:
    • Interpreting user requirements and producing high-quality code.
    • Familiarity with enterprise software development and existing frameworks (GIT, Azure Dev Ops, IBM WebSphere/Portal Server, PrimeFaces, MyFaces).
    • Experience developing software for authenticated and unauthenticated users (MyGov, VANguard FAS).
    • Expertise in IntelliJ and Maven build tools.
    • Experience with SOAP, XML, EJB 3, Web Services/RESTful APIs.
    • Proficient in Java/J2EE/JEE design and development.
    • Exposure to and familiarity with writing JUnit test cases.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative and focus on quality.
  • Experience working in a project team delivering outcomes within timelines and standards.
  • Relevant Java Developer qualifications and/or certifications.

It is desirable if you have:

  • Experience with UX/UI practices and standards.
  • Experience with the Vue framework.

Due to security clearance requirements, candidates must be Australian citizens with an existing Baseline security clearance.
