Our Federal Government Client is seeking a Senior SQL Server Database Administrator

This is a long-term contract role for 12 months with an extension term of 12 months for a total of 24 months, located at our client's office in ACT.

As the selected candidate, you will:

  • Deliver solutions and support for the client's evolving database environment which consists of SQL Server systems hosted on-premises, in the Azure Cloud, and in some legacy Linux-hosted data platforms.
  • Oversee compliance and health of the database fleet.
  • Drive database automation initiatives for repeatable requirements.
  • Develop service capabilities in the Azure cloud.

To be successful in this role you should have:

  • Recent experience in operating and supporting SQL Server clustered implementations and Azure SQL Managed Instance systems.
  • Proven experience as a Senior SQL Server DBA with a passion for data, automation, and designing robust, reliable systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing complex stored procedures and scripts with Microsoft SQL Server T-SQL.
  • Ability to performance tune, troubleshoot, and optimize SQL Server code for poorly running queries.
  • Experience in standardization of database objects, design, naming, and documentation of databases and data dictionaries, including source of truth and data lineage.
  • Experience in Relational Database concepts, primarily based on Microsoft SQL Server 2017-2022.
  • Ability to design, build, maintain, and decommission database systems.
  • Management and maintenance of SQL Server HA and DR, including Clustering, Availability Groups, Replication, and backup recovery.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with On-Premises, Virtual, and cloud SQL offerings.

It is desirable if you have:

  • Data modeling and management experience.
  • Experience with data visualization products, including Power BI.
  • Experience with other RDBMS products, such as Postgres, Ingres, MySQL, and Cosmos DB.
  • Experience working in Linux environments.
  • Ability to work with geographically dispersed teams.
  • Ability to work with technical and non-technical staff at all levels.
  • Ability to collaborate and mentor team members to promote team harmony.

Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian citizens with Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance.
