Our Federal Government Client is seeking an AWS Engineer.

This is a long-term contract role, starting ASAP to 30 June 2024, with a potential extension term of 12 months, located at our client's National Office in Canberra.

As the selected candidate, you will:

* Manage the current AWS Account, including provisioning of resources and service, optimizing costs, and ensuring security and compliance.

* Implement platform security controls to protect AWS resources and data from unauthorized access and cyber threats.

* Conduct assessments of vendor-managed AWS infrastructure/accounts to validate security posture and compliance with organizational standards.

* Implement and enforce platform best practices to ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of the AWS environment.

* Collaborate with other teams to investigate and resolve complex issues with the operation of infrastructure.

To be successful in this role you should have:

Essential Criteria:

* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in various AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudFormation, Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), etc.

* Demonstrated proficiency in implementing and managing security controls within AWS, including Identity and Access management (IAM) policies, security groups, encryption, and key management.

* Understanding of compliance standards and experience implementing governance frameworks within AWS.

* Strong understanding of AWS networking concepts, including VPC, Route 53, Direct Connect, and VPN.

* Experience with AWS monitoring and logging tools like CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and AWS Config for ensuring platform health and compliance.

* Ability to troubleshoot and optimize AWS resources for performance, cost, and security.

* Ability to work with geographically dispersed teams and collaborate with technical and non-technical staff at all levels.

Desirable Criteria:

* Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) for automating infrastructure deployments and management.

* Relevant qualifications in AWS.

* Demonstrated knowledge of IT frameworks, such as ITIL and TOGAF.

* Demonstrated knowledge of the Commonwealth frameworks, including ICT frameworks.

Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian citizens with the ability to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance.
