Our client is led and funded by one of the most well-known and successful software business entrepreneurs in Australia.

This is an opportunity to be part of their new venture which over the last 4 years has brought together the capability of software, AI and Computer Vision, building a platform which manages on-site access, security and safety, workforce management and access and qualification compliance. This platform is being used by some of the largest transport, logistics, manufacturing and warehousing companies in Australia.

Through acquisition they have inherited a number of technology products, and are now embarking on product consolidation with a focus on the greenfield build of their next generation product suite.

You will be joining a team of specialist mobile developers, as an android developer who can help build solutions for iPad's and mobile which sits at the heart of their facial recognition and access solution.

We are specifically looking for an android native specialist looking to show what they can do with energy, enthusiasm, passion and outstanding communication skills. You should be excited about the opportunity that working on a greenfield product build offers, whilst also having the maturity and pragmatism to work on tech debt and legacy code when needed.

Your growth and development will be supported by the senior developers around you, as well as by working for an impressive engineering leader who has high EQ and a background as a specialist mobile developer. You will be part of a hybrid work environment, where you can work remotely most of the time, or come into the CBD office to get a fix of connection and collaboration when you want.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop rich user interfaces for performance-critical mobile applications, utilising cutting edge technologies
  • Adapt between business, technology, and creative disciplines, with an innate ability to work with a team to deliver successful product projects
  • Evolve from problems to working solution prototypes quickly, while being across the current and future state of digital technologies

Ideal Technical Capabilities

  • Demonstrated experience in native Android mobile application development using Kotlin/Java
  • Strong understanding of Android SDKs & common third-party libraries. Experience with Jetpack Compose is highly regarded
  • Strong understanding of MVP, MVVM design patterns
  • Strong understanding of the Android ecosystem, Google's Android design principles and interface guidelines
  • Strong understanding of software development best practices, source control / git, agile methodologies, CI/CD, testing, TDD and SDLC
  • Experience with cloud messaging APIs, network libraries, local storage and push notifications
  • Experience in consuming JSON based REST API's using Retrofit, RxJava, RxAndroid or Kotlin Coroutines
  • Experience publishing apps to the Play Store
  • Experience working on iOS projects, especially Swift/SwiftUI is highly regarded
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on attention to detail
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to work both in a team and autonomously
  • Ability to work well in an agile and fast-paced environment
