About the Role:
Our utilities client is seeking a Senior ICT Project Manager. This is a contract role for an initial term of 9 months, commencing immediately, located in Mitchell, Canberra.
As the selected candidate, you will:
- Develop detailed project plans (scope, objectives, timelines, resources, risks and budgets).
- Define deliverables and milestones aligned to organisational goals and stakeholder expectations.
- Identify, evaluate and mitigate project risks to minimise impacts.
- Lead, mentor and motivate cross-functional project teams, fostering collaboration and accountability.
- Lead commercial negotiations with vendors, including end-to-end contract development.
- Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders (including contractors and local authorities as required).
- Provide regular stakeholder communications, timely updates and proactive issue management.
- Manage budgets, track expenses and ensure efficient use of resources to meet financial targets.
- Monitor and report on progress, performance metrics and key deliverables.
- Prepare and present detailed status reports to senior management, including risks, issues and corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation to support governance and audit requirements.
To be successful in this role you should have:
- 10+ years’ experience as a Project Manager.
- Extensive ICT/Network project management experience, including delivery of replacement ICT/Network infrastructure.
- Project Management certification(s) (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP or equivalent).
- Strong analytical skills; logical and structured approach to delivery.
- Strong financial management skills (budget tracking, accruals, forecasting and reporting).
- Strong scheduling experience (Microsoft Project Professional).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including developing business cases and key project artefacts.
- Ability to produce high-quality stakeholder communications and maintain effective professional relationships.
- Ability to manage multiple deliverables and schedules simultaneously; work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
It is desirable if you have:
- Utility industry experience supporting critical assets and associated business processes.
- Strong business acumen and a customer-centric approach to solving complex business problems efficiently and cost-effectively.
- Demonstrated vendor and third-party management experience across delivery, governance and commercial outcomes.
