This full-time role is offered on an initial 12-month contract with potential for two additional 12-month extensions, based in Canberra with a hybrid work arrangement. You will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining secure, scalable, and resilient cloud solutions within a Microsoft Azure environment, supporting the department’s cloud-first strategy and digital transformation goals.
As the selected candidate, you will:
- Design, develop, and engineer cloud solutions within the department's Microsoft Azure environment.
- Support the extension of cloud engineering and platform management functions, working collaboratively with internal and external teams.
- Contribute to the department’s multi-cloud approach, including supporting AWS infrastructure.
- Promote automation, infrastructure-as-code, and adherence to enterprise cloud architecture, security, and compliance standards.
- Support the uplift of legacy cloud implementations and embed automation and governance at scale.
- Collaborate closely with Application Delivery, Cyber Security, Network Services, and ICT Operations teams to ensure seamless cloud service delivery.
- Proven experience as a Senior Cloud Engineer with strong expertise in Microsoft Azure.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement secure, scalable, and resilient cloud architectures.
- Experience supporting multi-cloud environments, including AWS.
- Strong skills in automation, infrastructure-as-code, and cloud security best practices.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
- Relevant qualifications in IT or related fields, with security clearance eligibility (must be able to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1).
- Prior experience working within government or large enterprise environments.
- Knowledge of enterprise cloud governance and financial controls.
- Experience with legacy system upgrades and cloud migration strategies.
