About the Role: Our Federal Government Client is seeking a Deputy Principal Engineer (EWIS-M SPO). This is a long-term contract role with an initial 12-month duration, with 1 x 12-month extension option, located at our client’s Russell Offices, Canberra (on-site).
As the selected candidate, you will:
- Support the Principal Engineer in delivering engineering governance across Electronic Warfare programs
- Manage and continuously improve the Engineering Management System and associated frameworks
- Prepare quarterly engineering reports and briefings for senior Defence stakeholders
- Provide technical risk advice and engineering guidance to program leadership
- Lead engineering governance activities, including participation in review and configuration control boards
- Support transition to updated seaworthiness and regulatory frameworks
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate engineering activities
- Conduct technical investigations and lead assigned engineering tasks
To be successful in this role you should have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (recognised by Engineers Australia or equivalent)
- Eligibility for Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status
- Minimum 8+ years’ experience in engineering management or senior engineering roles
- Strong experience in systems engineering within complex or regulated environments
- Demonstrated experience in engineering governance, compliance, and risk management
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Experience working within Defence or similarly structured organisations
It is desirable if you have:
- Experience within Defence, maritime, or electronic warfare domains
- Postgraduate qualifications in engineering, project management, or technology management
- Familiarity with Navy seaworthiness or Defence engineering frameworks
- Experience supporting Authorised Engineering Organisations (AEO)
Security Requirement: Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian citizens with Negative Vetting 2 (NV2) clearance.
