About the role:
We are seeking a highly experienced Sourcing Specialist (Commercial & Services) to provide expert commercial, procurement and negotiation support across a complex, multidisciplinary program of work.
You’ll act as a trusted advisor—shaping approach-to-market activities, leading development of procurement artefacts, supporting evaluations, driving negotiation strategy, and providing high-level commercial advice to senior stakeholders. Strong documentation and stakeholder engagement skills are essential, along with a commitment to probity and value-for-money outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Lead development of high-quality Request for Tender (RFT) documentation aligned to procurement policies/frameworks
- Prepare industry briefing materials and support supplier engagement activities
- Design evaluation artefacts (e.g., Tender Evaluation Plans, criteria, templates)
- Facilitate/participate in evaluations ensuring probity, consistency and compliance
- Develop structured negotiation strategies and supporting artefacts
- Lead/support contract negotiations (pricing, commercial models, managed services outcomes)
- Provide strategic commercial advice across the full sourcing lifecycle through to contract finalisation
- Produce detailed reports/briefs for governance, audit and senior decision-makers
- Mentor and uplift capability within internal teams (commercial/procurement best practice)
- Extensive experience delivering large, complex services and technology sourcing programs
- Strong commercial/procurement capability with proven negotiation leadership
- Ability to create clear, concise, high-quality documentation and artefacts
- Excellent stakeholder management skills across executives, technical teams, vendors, legal/probity advisors
- Ability to perform under pressure while maintaining quality and attention to detail
- Strong value-for-money mindset and disciplined commercial analysis
- Government/public sector sourcing experience (especially ICT/digital/technology-enabled services)
- Experience across multiple sourcing models (panel arrangements, managed services, cloud services, whole-of-government style procurement)
- Executive advisory experience on procurement risk, commercial strategy and governance
