We are seeking an experienced Director, Data Services to lead the strategic direction, operational management and ongoing modernisation of a large enterprise data environment within a major Australian Government agency.
This is a senior leadership role overseeing data engineering, data architecture, data modelling, integration, platform operations and reporting.
Key responsibilities:
• Lead multidisciplinary data engineering, architecture, modelling and operational teams.
• Own the strategy, governance, performance and reliability of enterprise data platforms.
• Oversee data integration, data quality, reporting and operational data services.
• Drive data platform modernisation, cloud adoption and continuous improvement.
• Establish strong data governance, engineering and operational practices.
• Partner with senior business and technology stakeholders to deliver strategic data outcomes.
• Provide strategic advice to senior executives on data platforms, technology and transformation.
About you:
You will be a senior data technology leader with experience operating at enterprise scale. And hold an active Security Clearance, Baseline of above.
You will bring:
• Proven leadership of enterprise data services, data engineering or data platform functions.
• Strong expertise across data architecture, modelling, integration and data warehousing.
• Experience with Snowflake, Talend, Data Lakes, Teradata, SAS or similar enterprise technologies
• Experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams and building high-performing cultures.
• Strong understanding of data platform operations, service management and governance.
• Experience with modern cloud data ecosystems and platform transformation.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at executive level.
