The client is seeking a highly experienced Lead Cyber Security Architect to join their team and provide strategic architectural leadership across their Cyber Uplift Program. This is a contract position based in Carseldine, with flexible work arrangements—primarily in the office (minimum 50%), with potential reassignment to other locations, including the CBD, to meet project needs.

As the selected candidate, you will:
  • Lead cyber security architecture activities across multiple concurrent initiatives, establishing and maintaining security principles, standards, and reusable design patterns.
  • Provide architectural governance, assurance, and design authority throughout all phases of project delivery.
  • Support delivery teams in translating architectural solutions into practical, implementable outcomes.
  • Ensure all architectures align with enterprise frameworks, government policies, legislative requirements, and industry standards.
  • Offer expert technical advice to stakeholders and mentorship to architects and specialists.
  • Monitor emerging cyber security trends and technologies to drive continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to procurement activities, vendor assessments, and technology evaluations.
  • Promote consistency and reusability in cyber security architecture across programs.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
  • Over 10 years of experience in cyber security architecture and senior technical leadership roles.
  • Proven ability to lead architecture across large, complex transformation programs.
  • Strong understanding of government cyber security frameworks and governance.
  • Experience developing enterprise security capability roadmaps.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders.
  • Relevant qualifications such as CISSP, with additional certifications like TOGAF or SABSA being desirable.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and frameworks including NIST, ISO27001, and the Australian Signals Directorate’s security manuals.
  • Demonstrated expertise with security technologies such as Microsoft security tools, identity platforms, SIEM, cloud security, Zero Trust architectures, and endpoint security.
It is desirable if you have:
  • Certifications such as CRISC, CISM, or equivalent industry credentials.
  • Prior experience working within government or highly regulated environments.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and specific assessments like the ASD Essential Eight.
