About the Role:
Our Federal Government Client is seeking an Application Support Engineer (Level 2/3). This is a 12-month contract role with two 12-month extension options, located in Canberra, ACT. This is an onsite role requiring 5 days per week in the office.

As the selected candidate, you will:
• Provide Level 2 and Level 3 technical support for business-critical applications used by the Australian Passport Office.
• Perform systems administration, application monitoring, troubleshooting, incident investigation, and technical problem resolution.
• Investigate and resolve complex application issues, providing technical support to stakeholders and escalating issues to vendors when required.
• Monitor system performance, identify operational improvements, and contribute to improving application availability and reliability.
• Support application deployments, software updates, patches, fixes, testing activities, and change management processes.
• Work collaboratively with software development teams throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Develop and maintain operational documentation, procedures, and knowledge base articles for support teams.
• Participate in BAU activities, technical projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.

To be successful in this role you should have:
• Strong technical skills and experience in application troubleshooting, diagnosing, testing, and resolving complex technical issues.
• Experience with PowerShell scripting and task automation.
• Intermediate T-SQL skills and strong experience working with SQL database technologies.
• Experience supporting software development teams and understanding SDLC processes.
• Knowledge and practical experience with ITIL Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex application issues.

It is desirable if you have:
• Windows Server and Linux administration experience.
• Experience with release automation using Azure DevOps or similar tools.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent activities while balancing priorities, dependencies, and risks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and business stakeholders.

Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian citizens with the ability to obtain a Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) security clearance.
