Role Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Windows Server Engineer to lead a major upgrade project, migrating servers from Windows Server 2012 R2 and 2016 to the latest supported versions (2022/2025).
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess existing Windows Server environments and develop upgrade/migration plans, including risk and backout strategies.
- Perform in-place upgrades or fresh builds and migrations to Windows Server 2022/2025.
- Configure and optimise server roles, Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, and security settings.
- Migrate applications, databases, and workloads with minimal business disruption.
- Develop automation scripts (PowerShell/IaC) to streamline deployment and configuration.
- Conduct testing, validation, documentation, and provide post-upgrade support.
- Ensure compliance with security standards, patching processes, and change management requirements.
Essential:
- Proven Windows Server upgrade/migration experience
- Strong Azure infrastructure knowledge
- Active Directory, DNS & Group Policy expertise
- PowerShell scripting & automation skills
- Solid understanding of networking and security
