We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer to support a major enterprise IP network modernisation program within a defence-aligned environment.
This role will focus on translating complex network architecture, diagrams, and resilience designs into clear, structured technical documentation. You will work closely with network engineers and technical SMEs to capture and document system designs, operational processes, and implementation details to support large-scale network deployments.
- $750 - $900/day inc super
- Duration: 6 month initial contract + view to extend long term (LOTS of work going on)
- Location: CBD (3 - 4 days per week in the office)
Role Responsibilities
- Develop clear, well-structured technical documentation including architecture documentation, design artefacts, operational procedures, and implementation guides.
- Interpret complex IP network architectures, diagrams, and resilience designs, translating them into accessible documentation for both technical and operational audiences.
- Collaborate with network engineers, architects, and project stakeholders to gather information and ensure documentation accurately reflects the network environment.
- Produce and maintain documentation throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring materials remain current as designs evolve.
- Manage documentation standards, templates, and version control to ensure consistency and quality across all deliverables.
- Use collaboration tools such as JIRA and Confluence to track documentation activities and support project delivery.
- Must be an Australian Citizen
- Demonstrated experience as a Technical Writer supporting large-scale network or infrastructure projects, ideally within complex enterprise environments.
- Strong ability to interpret network diagrams, architecture designs, and resilience models and convert these into structured technical documentation.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts.
- High attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple documentation deliverables simultaneously.
- Experience working closely with technical SMEs including network engineers and solution architects.
- Experience working on major IP-based network programs or infrastructure transformation projects.
- Familiarity with collaboration and documentation tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and Visio.
- Understanding of network concepts including high availability, redundancy, and resilience design.
