We are seeking a Senior Technical Writer to support a major, defence-aligned enterprise network modernisation program.
This role is responsible for developing structured, audit-ready operational documentation across IT Service Management (ITSM), Network Operations, and Service Transition. You will ensure services are operationally ready prior to go-live by producing clear, governance-aligned artefacts in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment.
Role Responsibilities
- Produce clear, high-quality project and operational documentation tailored to technical and business audiences.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (development, product, SMEs) to gather requirements, translate complex concepts, and address documentation gaps through research and hands-on analysis.
- Plan, write and maintain process documentation, user training materials, technical design specifications and test scripts.
- Manage documentation libraries, style guides and version control to ensure consistency, accuracy and alignment across the project.
- Use collaboration tools (e.g. JIRA, Confluence) to track tasks, coordinate updates and ensure documentation reflects system changes and industry best practice.
- 6+ years’ experience in technical writing (or 10+ years without a degree), with demonstrated ability to produce high-quality technical documentation.
- Strong proficiency in HTML-based authoring tools (e.g. Dreamweaver, FrameMaker, Confluence) and Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to write clear explanatory and procedural content for diverse audiences.
- High attention to detail, with strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and manage deadlines independently.
- Desirable: experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence), visual documentation tools (Visio, Photoshop), training material development, and understanding of the Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
If you are a structured thinker who thrives in complex operational environments and takes pride in producing high-quality documentation, we encourage you to apply.
