About the Role:
Our Federal Government Client is seeking a Technical Officer.
This is a long-term contract role 12 months with a 12-month extension option, located at our client’s office in Barton, ACT. Work will be primarily onsite.
As the selected candidate, you will:
- Provide support for Gallagher Electronic Access Control System (EACS) and Type 1/1A systems across domestic sites.
- Perform system maintenance and enhancement activities.
- Deliver technical advice to design teams for refit activities.
- Conduct site surveys for security infrastructure upgrades (alarms, access control, CCTV, screening equipment).
- Assist with pre-installation planning, hardware procurement, and logistics.
- Engage stakeholders for planning and completion of installations.
- Support installers with programming, commissioning, and maintenance of electronic security systems.
- Train and support staff in using electronic security systems.
- Update site plans, as-builts, technical drawings, and documentation.
- Work under limited supervision and manage priorities to meet deadlines.
To be successful in this role you should have:
- Gallagher programming experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team, including in high-stress environments.
- Demonstrated experience installing and maintaining EACS and Type 1/1A systems.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs).
- Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
- Familiarity with compliance standards (AS/NZS, ISO).
- Mandatory certifications:
- Open Cabling Registration with Fibre and Structured Cabling Endorsement
- Gallagher certification for EACS and Type 1A
- WHS White Card
- Working Safely at Heights
- Working in Confined Spaces
- Asbestos Awareness Certification
- First Aid
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel
It is desirable if you have:
- Experience with installation, programming, and maintenance of Type 1/1A Alarm Systems (Gallagher Type 1A accreditation).
- Experience with Electronic Access Control Solutions (Gallagher Access Technician accreditation).
Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian citizens with Negative Vetting Level 2 clearance or higher.
