Location: Melbourne (5 days on site)
Contract: Until 30 June 2026 + strong potential of extension
We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support complex Defence environments, software‑intensive systems in a highly regulated technical environment. This role helps lead systems engineering governance, software and firmware lifecycle management, and technical assurance, with exposure to senior stakeholders and high‑impact engineering decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead systems engineering activities for software‑intensive platforms
- Define and maintain software and systems lifecycle management frameworks
- Develop Software Management Plans and Technical Risk Assessments
- Review system and software designs for compliance, safety, and risk
- Support engineering governance, change management, and sustainment activities
- Provide authoritative systems engineering advice to senior stakeholders
- Australian Citizen with NV1 clearance (mandatory)
- Strong systems engineering background with experience in software‑heavy systems
- Experience producing Software Management Plans and technical assurance artefacts
- Solid understanding of systems lifecycle and configuration management
- Comfortable engaging at senior technical and leadership levels
- 5+ years in complex or regulated engineering environments
- Experience with embedded, communications, or mission‑critical systems
- Engineering change management experience
- ERP or configuration management system exposure
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Systems, Software, Computer Science or similar)
- Registered Professional Engineer (Victoria)
- Must have NV1 Security Clearance
