Role: SQL Server Database Administrator
Contract: 3 month initial engagement
Start: ASAP
Location: Parkville, Melbourne
Work model: Hybrid
Engagement options:
• Day rate:$600 to $650 per day including super
• Fixed term: 3 month pro rata salary based on $120k package including super
• There is flexibility here for the right person
There is a strong likelihood of extension or potential transition into a longer term or permanent role.
Client: Highly regarded public healthcare institution
Role overview:
This is a short term engagement with a fairly well defined and practical scope, more focused on stability and BAU rather than heavy transformation work.
Key areas of focus include:
• BAU support and incident management
• Monitoring, performance tuning, patching, and backups
• Supporting availability of key clinical and operational systems
Role purpose:
The Database Administrator will provide a mix of BAU and project support across database platforms, primarily SQL Server and Oracle in an on premises environment.
The role is focused on ensuring availability, performance, security, data integrity, and recoverability. There is also an element of supporting stabilisation and incremental improvement of the environment, including contributing to upgrades and migration activity aligned to broader roadmaps.
Tech environment includes SQL Server, Oracle, and Oracle E Business Suite, with some exposure to cloud where relevant.
Key experience required:
• Around 5+ years experience supporting enterprise SQL Server and Oracle environments
• Strong SQL Server experience across 2016 and later, including clustering and Always On availability groups
• Oracle database administration, ideally with exposure to Oracle E Business Suite
• Solid experience across backup, recovery, patching, monitoring, and performance tuning
• Experience working across both Windows and Linux environments
• Exposure to high availability and disaster recovery setups
• Ability to use scripting or automation such as PowerShell, T SQL, or Oracle tools
Nice to have:
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure SQL, OCI, or AWS
• Experience supporting database migrations
• Familiarity with enterprise monitoring or backup tools
• Relevant Microsoft, Oracle, or cloud certifications
• Experience working in healthcare or other regulated environments
