About the Role: Our Federal Government client, is seeking a Senior Unified Communications Engineer (Senior Infrastructure Engineer – EL1 equivalent). This is a long-term contract role with an initial 12-month contract, plus two extension options of 12 months each, located in the ACT. The role operates in a hybrid arrangement, with candidates required to work full-time on-site at 51 Allara Street, Canberra City, with ad-hoc work-from-home available at client's discretion.
As the selected candidate, you will:
- Identify and document business, functional, and technical requirements for Unified Communications (UC) solutions.
- Provide subject matter expertise for the design and implementation of scalable, secure UC capabilities.
- Develop UC roadmaps in collaboration with architecture, cybersecurity, and internal stakeholder teams.
- Design, implement, and support communication, collaboration, and networking systems.
- Maintain UC platforms including telephony, collaboration tools, messaging, PBX, mobile devices, and voice/video conferencing systems.
- Create and maintain policies, procedures, and training documentation.
- Research emerging technologies to inform procurement and development decisions.
- Collaborate across projects to ensure architectural alignment and operational consistency.
- Provide expert-level troubleshooting, diagnostics, and support for UC system upgrades.
- Contribute to operational strategies and best practices to enhance performance and reliability.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience designing, deploying, and managing Unified Communications systems.
- Strong stakeholder management and client service skills.
- Proven ability to articulate technical detail through detailed design and implementation documentation.
- Highly developed diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative technical team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Communications, or a related discipline.
- A broad understanding of whole-of-government ICT direction and emerging technologies.
- Hands-on experience in the day-to-day operation of UC systems, including voice, video, and VoIP.
- A strong understanding of the ASD Essential Eight and experience contributing to ICT security accreditation.
- Experience with current and emerging networking and collaboration technologies.
