The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Team Lead – Digital Platform & IoT to take technical ownership of our clients core digital platform and IoT services. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you will guide a team of around 10 engineers while directly contributing to the modernisation of a mission-critical platform. You will lead the refactoring and migration of our IoT layer from Java/.NET to Node.js, while owning our AWS infrastructure and DevOps capability end to end.
What You’ll Do
• Take end-to-end technical ownership of the digital platform (React / Node.js) and IoT layer.
• Lead the migration of the IoT platform from Java/.NET to Node.js, reducing technical debt and improving scalability.
• Own and evolve the AWS infrastructure, ensuring security, reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.
• Define and drive DevOps practices, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, monitoring, logging, and automation.
• Remain hands-on, contributing to development, architecture decisions, and code reviews.
• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of ~10 engineers, overseeing delivery, sprint planning, and technical execution.
• Partner closely with Product and stakeholders to deliver platform improvements and new capabilities.
• Capture and document critical domain knowledge from legacy systems and teams.
What We’re Looking For
• 7+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years in a technical leadership or team lead role.
• Deep expertise in Node.js and modern JavaScript / TypeScript development.
• Strong experience with React and Node.js backend services.
• Proven experience modernising legacy systems, including migrations from Java and/or .NET.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS (e.g. Terraform, security, S3, CloudWatch).
• Solid DevOps capability: CI/CD pipelines, IaC, automation, containerisation, and monitoring.
• Experience working with or supporting IoT platforms, device communication, or real-time distributed systems (highly regarded).
• Demonstrated ability to extract and document complex domain knowledge.
• A strong sense of ownership and pride in building reliable, high-quality platforms.
