Senior System Administrator – Local Government organization
URGENT Initial-3 Months Contract opportunity (view to extend)
Rate: $70-$80 per hour plus Super
Sydney Area role (100% Onsite)

We are seeking a skilled Senior System Administrator with strong experience in Microsoft technologies, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise IT support to maintain and enhance critical business systems. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Active Directory, Office 365, Entra ID, Intune, SCCM, Windows Server, Azure/AWS, and PowerShell scripting, with the ability to provide advanced technical support, system administration, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver Level 2 and Level 3 technical support for IT systems and infrastructure, ensuring high service availability, data protection, backup recovery, and compliance with operational standards.
• Manage and administer Microsoft technologies including Active Directory, Office 365, Entra ID, Intune, SCCM, and Windows Server environments, while supporting cloud infrastructure across Azure and AWS.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate system administration, deployment, reporting, and troubleshooting processes, improving operational efficiency and system reliability.
• Manage complex system administration, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting while collaborating with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues and support infrastructure initiatives.
• Prepare technical documentation, project scopes, resource estimates, and operational reports while contributing to IT governance, policy compliance, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Requirements
• 5-8+ years’ experience in IT System Administration/Engineer and infrastructure Support in enterprise environments
• Experience with Microsoft Technologies, Active Directory, Office 365, Entra, Intune, SCCM, and Windows Server Environment
• Cloud experience with Azure and/or AWS
• Experience with PowerShell Scripting
• Strong operational focus with experience in BAU support (Level 2/3), office infrastructure improvements, and troubleshooting technical issues
• Excellent communication skills with experience collaborating with stakeholders and vendors, including preparing documentation
• Experience working in a government environment is a plus
