We are seeking a highly experienced Cyber Security Engineer to lead and enhance our security architecture and infrastructure, ensuring robust protection of our systems and data.
About the Role:
As the Cyber Security Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design, development, and optimisation of our cyber security systems. Working within a collaborative IT Security team, you will lead architectural initiatives and provide expert guidance to support the ongoing commitment to cyber resilience and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Support vulnerability and threat management activities by reviewing findings, validating remediation actions, and confirming closure.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and vendors to manage, optimise, and monitor SIEM, EDR, and endpoint protection tools to reduce false positives and enhance detection capabilities.
- Support vulnerability assessment activities, prioritising remediation efforts in partnership with technical and business units.
- Implement approved configuration changes and tuning activities within Microsoft Defender in accordance with established standards, baselines, and guidance.
- Monitor, triage, and analyse security alerts and events generated by Microsoft Defender and associated security platforms.
Skills and Experience:
- Experience with virtualisation platforms, identity management, enterprise operating systems, SIEM, SOAR, IPS, application firewalls, server and endpoint protection, and e-mail security.
- Proven experience as a Cyber Security Officer/ Administrator supporting the effective delivery of information security services.
- Experience of applying security frameworks (ISO 27001, ACSC Essential Eight)
- Experience within the Public sector and large government departments
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
