Our Federal Government Client is seeking a Satellite Communications Engineer. This is a long-term contract role 12 months with 12 months extension with two (2) possible extensions, located at our client’s ACT office, with onsite working arrangements (hybrid/remote work not available).
As the selected candidate, you will:
• Design, implement and maintain satellite communications systems supporting client’s Satellite Modernisation Project
• Support both legacy GEO infrastructure and emerging NGSO technologies
• Contribute to high-level design activities, technology investigations, and solution planning
• Deploy, maintain and support satellite terminals across geographically dispersed client Posts
• Collaborate with architecture, cyber assurance, and regional technical teams to ensure secure and reliable communications
• Produce high-quality technical documentation including designs and maintenance plans
• Travel regularly to remote and international locations as required
To be successful in this role you should have:
• 5+ years’ experience in satellite communications engineering (GEO and NGSO)
• Strong RF and microwave communications expertise including design, testing and optimisation
• Experience planning and implementing high-availability WAN and satellite connectivity solutions
• A Bachelor or Diploma of Engineering in Electronics and/or Communications
• Excellent communication skills and experience working in cross-functional teams
It is desirable if you have:
• Experience supporting government or defence satellite communications projects
• Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to junior engineers or technicians
Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian citizens with an active Negative Vetting Level 2 (NV2) clearance.
