About the role
We are seeking a Network Engineer to support site-based assessments and reviews across customer environments, with the initial engagement located in the Hunter region. The role involves conducting detailed network site surveys, assessing and validating existing infrastructure, and identifying gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities. The successful candidate will be required to attend customer sites as needed, working closely with the existing network team to provide hands-on support and ensure alignment with operational standards and ongoing initiatives. This role is embedded within the customer environment and requires strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills.
Responsibilities:
- Complex solutioning LAN/WAN design and concepts.
- Large scale Installation/Implementation of Switches and Routers and their configuration.
- Routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, MPLS), STP, LACP, QoS, BFD, Virtual Routing instances and Routing policies.
- Firewalls and Security policies.
- Prioritising, QOS, Load Balancing and Managing Data Flows, VPNs and Securing Network Devices. 
- Design and deployment of SDWAN
- Network gateway experience is advantageous.
- Carrier Grade platform IP MPLS/BGP based networks to provide Layer 2 and 3 services.
- An in depth understanding and hands on experience with network architectures, routing, switching and associated technologies.
- Demonstrate implementation skills, creative problem solving, strategic planning and advanced communication skills.
- Able to implement and deploy network changes to production network systems, working both independently and with an operations team, as the situation requires.
- Engage with all project stakeholders as peers and test their decisions when necessary to provide them with the best outcome.
- Experience of delivering work to agreed performance standards whether autonomously or as a part of a team or a leader of a team.
- Experience working across multi-vendor network environments, with strong technical expertise in Extreme Networks, Cisco, Fortinet, and HP/Aruba technologies.
