About the Role: Our Federal Government Client is seeking a Senior Network Engineer. This is a long-term contract role 12 months initial contract with 2 x 12-month extension options, located at our client’s ACT office with hybrid working arrangements.
As the selected candidate, you will:
• Take ownership of enterprise network infrastructure, including standards, policies, procedures, and documentation
• Manage updates, improvements, and lifecycle of network environments across LAN, WLAN, WAN, firewalls, and cloud platforms
• Provide Level 3 support including advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance optimisation
• Lead and contribute to major incident response, ensuring timely resolution and stakeholder communication
• Ensure compliance with security policies, governance frameworks, and operational standards
• Manage ITSM queues and oversee ticket resolution through to closure
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to uplift network capability, resilience, and maturity
To be successful in this role you should have:
• Demonstrated experience in network ownership, governance, and continuous improvement within enterprise environments
• Extensive experience designing, implementing, and operating complex enterprise networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN, data centre, SDN)
• Strong expertise in firewall technologies, traffic management, and network security practices
• Proven ability in advanced fault diagnosis, root cause analysis, and incident resolution
• Hands-on experience with cloud networking in AWS and Azure within hybrid architectures
• Strong understanding of secure network design, scalability, and resilience principles
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience leading or contributing to major incident management processes
It is desirable if you have:
• Experience with secure access solutions such as Zscaler
• Exposure to Federal Government environments and compliance frameworks
• Experience mentoring team members and contributing to capability uplift
• Familiarity with ITIL processes and service management frameworks
Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian citizens with the ability to obtain Baseline clearance.
