Seeking a skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our Federal Government Client.
Initial 12 Months Contract with extensions
Sydney based
Hybrid work flexibility 2-3 days on-site / 2 days WFH

We are seeking a skilled Senior Data Engineer and join a team that will prepare and transform raw data into accessible, high-quality datasets to support optimization, service delivery, and advanced analytics, while collaborating closely with a cross-functional agile team.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and build scalable data pipelines to ingest, transform, and store structured and unstructured data.
• Develop and maintain data models, architectures, and databases to support efficient storage, processing, and retrieval.
• Implement, monitor, and optimise ETL/ELT processes and data workflows for performance, reliability, and quality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver data solutions, maintain documentation, and support ongoing operations.
Required Skills
• 5-7+ years of professional experience in data engineering or related field (fixing and strengthening what already exist)
• Proven experience in designing and building data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data architecture
• Strong proficiency in programming languages such as SQL and Python/PySpark
• Hands-on experience with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB and Oracle, ElasticSearch etc.)
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and data tools like Apache Spark, or Kafka etc.
• Knowledge of data governance, data quality, privacy, and security standards
• Understanding and application of Australian data standards
Due to security clearance requirement for this role, candidate must be Australian Citizen with Minimum Baseline Clearance or Higher.
