About the Role:
Our Federal Government Client is seeking a Senior Cloud and Automation Engineer. This is a long-term contract role (12-month initial contract) with two 12-month extension options, located at our client’s Canberra ACT office with primarily onsite working arrangements. Work from home may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
As the selected candidate, you will:
- Identify opportunities for automation within software development and operational processes
- Develop and execute automated testing using scripts and specialised tools
- Run automation tests across databases, systems, networks, and applications
- Design and implement automated cloud infrastructure solutions
- Identify bugs and quality issues throughout the software development lifecycle
- Work with internal stakeholders to streamline workflows through automation
- Manage complex cloud environments and ensure strong security controls for protecting sensitive data
- Contribute to scalable and resilient cloud platforms supporting PROTECTED capabilities
- Strong understanding of computer programming and software development
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or a related field
- Experience with automation tools and automated testing frameworks
- Ability to troubleshoot systems and perform complex testing and diagnostics
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities when working within development teams
- Strong programming and scripting experience
- Expertise in at least one major cloud platform ( AWS preferred)
- Experience working with Infrastructure-as-Code frameworks
- Experience designing secure cloud environments for government or enterprise systems
