Program Director – Financial Crime Transformation  6‑month contract + extensions | Melbourne or Sydney | Hybrid
Are you an experienced Program Director who thrives on complexity, senior stakeholder engagement and delivering enterprise‑wide transformation? This is a rare opportunity to lead a multi‑year Financial Crime Transformation Program for a major Australian financial institution.
We're seeking a strategic, execution‑focused Program Director to design, lead and deliver a large‑scale uplift across all areas of Financial Crime—spanning AML/CTF, Sanctions, Fraud, Scams, and Anti‑Bribery & Corruption. This program consolidates multiple streams of work, issues, regulatory requirements, and transformation initiatives into a single, cohesive uplift agenda.

The Opportunity As the Program Director, you will take ownership of an enterprise‑critical program that impacts operational teams, risk functions, technology, data, customer‑facing businesses and more.
You will be accountable for end‑to‑end delivery of the transformation roadmap, including strategic alignment, governance, financial management, stakeholder influence, and navigating operational interdependencies. This is a high‑visibility role, partnering closely with senior Executives including Financial Crime, Risk, Technology and Operations leaders.

What You’ll Lead Program Leadership & Delivery
  • Build, refine, and deliver a cohesive, multi‑year transformation roadmap.
  • Bring structure, discipline and detailed planning to a large, complex body of work.
  • Consolidate uplift initiatives, audit items, risk treatment plans and interdependencies into a single program of work.
Strategic Alignment & Governance
  • Ensure all program activity aligns to enterprise‑wide risk, compliance and transformation objectives.
  • Provide transparent, concise and insightful reporting to executive stakeholders.
Dependency & Risk Management
  • Identify, map and manage interdependencies across Technology, Risk, Operations, Data and Customer business units.
  • Anticipate and mitigate program‑level risks, ensuring sustainable, long‑term outcomes.
Financial & Resource Management
  • Manage budgets, investment decisions and resourcing to enable efficient and effective delivery.
  • Work in parallel with BAU leaders to ensure service continuity during periods of change.
Stakeholder Leadership
  • Influence and collaborate with senior leaders, SMEs, delivery teams and external partners.
  • Drive alignment across diverse stakeholder groups using strong communication and narrative storytelling.
What You Bring
  • Extensive Program Director / Program Management experience across complex, multi‑stream transformations within large financial institutions.
  • Deep expertise in Financial Crime, ideally with strong understanding of AUSTRAC obligations and AML/CTF regulatory frameworks.
  • Exceptional ability to connect the dots across programs, risks, controls and enterprise strategy.
  • Proven capability in navigating ambiguity, solving complex problems, and driving disciplined delivery.
  • Outstanding stakeholder management, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strength in recovering program momentum, managing interdependencies and embedding change at scale.
Why This Role Matters This is a critical transformation for the organisation — the work you lead will directly uplift regulatory capability, strengthen risk controls, improve customer outcomes, and set the foundation for long‑term operational excellence in Financial Crime.'
