About the role
The IT Manager is responsible for leading a small team of IT professionals in the delivery and support of reliable and secure IT services that enables the organisation to grow, perform more efficiently and provide exceptional customer service while meeting regulations imposed in a highly regulated industry.
Operating with a high level of autonomy, this role reports to the COO and is responsible for ownership of end-to-end IT operations, managing technology vendors, overseeing projects and ensuring strong governance. Effective relationships across the entire organisation and a pro-active approach in managing the IT infrastructure is essential for success.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading, coaching and developing a high‑performing IT team
- Managing IT service delivery, infrastructure and internal help desk operations
- Overseeing technology vendors and outsourced service providers
- Ensuring strong governance, security, audit and compliance practices
- Managing IT assets, policies, change management and service standards
- Supporting and administering core business systems and platforms
- Leading and contributing to IT projects, budgeting and planning activities
- Proactively identifying opportunities to improve service quality, resilience and efficiency
About you
You are a capable and pragmatic IT leader who enjoys working in a collaborative, purpose‑driven organisation. You are comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands‑on delivery and thrive in environments that value accountability, integrity and teamwork.
Skills and Experience required:
- Extensive experience working in IT service delivery and infrastructure management.
- Proven track record of effective leadership within an IT Operational environment.
- Operational IT Systems
Administrative
experience that includes
- LANs, WANs, Routing and Switching
- Servers, Laptops, Printers, UPSs, O365, Exchange, Entra, Teams, Intune
- Detailed understanding of protocols and services such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, AD, VPN
- Experience in managing external technology vendors.
- Detailed understanding of the ITIL framework.
- Detailed understanding of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and ASD8 requirements
- Experience in managing and implementing IT infrastructure projects or upgrades.
- Experience in recruiting, training and developing team members.
- Exceptional communication skills – verbal and written for team and executive presentations, reporting and training
- Ability to think strategically to identify opportunities for business improvements and efficiencies.
- Tertiary qualification in IT, Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience
- Desirable: Industry certifications (e.g. Microsoft, Cisco, ITIL)
