TEAM AND ROLE
- The IT Infrastructure Cloud/AVD Engineer is responsible for delivering technical support, maintenance, and troubleshooting across the company’s Azure servers, networks, and AVD infrastructure. The role encompasses the management of IaaS and PaaS solutions, ensuring seamless integration between cloud and on-premises environments, while safeguarding performance, reliability, and security.
- The engineer will bring strong expertise in Azure storage, server technologies, virtualization, data management, and security best practices. As a member of the global infrastructure team, this role contributes to providing consistent, high-quality support and services across the organization worldwide.
Server Administration
- Provision, configure, and maintain Azure servers and support physical on-prem servers, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
- Support and Maintain Azure networking (VNets, subnets, NSGs, VPN gateways, load balancers).
- Monitor and manage storage solutions (Blob, File Shares, Managed Disks)
- Monitor and optimize storage performance, capacity, and usage.
- Implement data protection measures including snapshots, backups, and replication where necessary.
Monitoring & Maintenance
- Monitor system performance and availability using Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
- Apply updates, patches, and ensure compliance with company security policies.
- Manage backups and disaster recovery solutions (Azure Backup, Site Recovery).
- Implement/manage Azure security best practices (firewalls, Key Vault, Security Center).
- Manage user identities, MFA, and conditional access in Azure Active Directory.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and resolve incidents.
- Provide technical support for Azure services.
- Troubleshoot networking, storage, and application deployment issues.
- Collaborate IT teams on hybrid cloud solutions
AVD User Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide L3 support for AVD users experiencing login, application, or connectivity issues.
- Resolve issues related to Azure AD authentication, licensing, or session persistence.
- Monitor performance and respond to alerts.
AVD Administration & Maintenance
- Manage role-based access control (RBAC) for admins and users.
- Maintain AVD golden images (update patches, apps, and security).
- Perform regular health checks on the AVD environment.
- Communicate effectively with external suppliers regarding releases, enhancement requests, and issue resolution to ensure alignment with organisational needs
- Document processes and create guides for supporting teams, ensuring that knowledge is shared and accessible
- Work closely with internal teams and stakeholders to assess business needs and translate them into improvements that align with strategic objectives
- Collaborate with the security team to proactively manage vulnerabilities and implement application security best practices to protect organizational data.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure services (especially Virtual Server/Desktop, Azure AD, Networking, and Storage).
- Exp in SCCM, Citrix to laptop environment, DC to Azure cloud environment, windows 10 to windows 11, Level 3 Helpdesk support
- Experience with Windows Server/Client administration.
- Familiarity with Active Directory & Group Policies.
- Experience with PowerShell scripting for automation.
- Understanding of networking basics (VPN, firewalls, RDP, DNS).
- Exp in SCCM, Citrix to laptop environment, DC to Azure cloud environment, windows 11, Azure Cloud, level 3 Helpdesk support
- Troubleshooting skills for user login issues, FSLogix profile errors, and performance bottlenecks.
