About the Role:
Our Federal Government Client is seeking an IT Application Developer. This is a long-term contract role from 30 March 2026 to 28 March 2027 (12 months initial contract)
with 2 x 12-month extension options, located at our client’s multiple sites across ACT/NSW/VIC/QLD/SA.
As the selected candidate, you will:
• Lead end-to-end design, build, deployment and evaluation of cloud-native applications using TypeScript/JavaScript and Node.js
• Design and deliver scalable, resilient microservices and APIs, ensuring strong service contracts, versioning, and backward compatibility
• Develop and deploy containerised applications using modern DevOps and CI/CD practices
• Implement Test Driven Development (TDD) and establish unit, integration, and contract testing strategies (Mocha/Chai)
• Design and operate high throughput, high availability applications
• Apply AWS services including ECS, ECR, S3, CloudWatch, Kinesis Firehose, IAM, and SQS
• Contribute to API governance and standards, including design and management using Apigee
• Provide technical leadership, mentor developers, drive code reviews, and act as the technical escalation point
• Own and deliver non-functional requirements including performance, security, reliability, maintainability, and observability
• Collaborate with architects, testers, DevOps engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver enterprise outcomes
To be successful in this role you should have:
• Strong proficiency in
TypeScript (preferred) or JavaScript, with sound architectural decision-making capability
• Extensive Node.js development experience, including performance tuning and scalability considerations
• Demonstrated experience designing API
and microservice architectures
• Proven end-to-end solution design and implementation experience in enterprise environments
• Strong experience with TDD
and modern testing frameworks(Mocha/Chai)
• Experience designing and delivering containerised applications
• Strong AWS expertise(ECS, ECR, S3, CloudWatch, Kinesis Firehose, IAM, SQS)
• Experience designing secure, scalable, resilient cloud-native solutions
• Proven experience delivering high throughput, high availability systems
It is desirable if you have:
• Experience with API platform governance and design using Google Apigee
• Experience contributing to enterprise-wide standards and engineering best practices
• Previous Federal Government
experience
Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian citizens
with Baseline Security Clearance (must be held currently).
