About the Role:
Our Federal Government Client is seeking a Graphic Designer.

This is a long-term contract role ASAP until 31 December 2026 with up to 3 extension options (not to exceed 18 months total), located in Canberra, ACT with hybrid working arrangements.
 
As the selected candidate, you will:
  • Design and deliver print, digital and web materials that support projects and align with Government standards
  • Create and maintain accessible, user-focused visual content across intranet, websites, newsletters, flyers, factsheets and presentations
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to interpret briefs and produce practical design solutions
  • Contribute to the consistency of the organisation’s visual identity across corporate and program products
  • Assist in monitoring design outputs for accessibility, usability and effectiveness, gathering feedback to inform improvements
  • Identify opportunities to enhance design processes and contribute ideas that improve clarity, accessibility and consistency
 
To be successful in this role you should have:
  • Demonstrated design skills and sound understanding of design principles to analyse project needs and contribute to creative design solutions
  • Practical knowledge of graphic design techniques and principles, with experience using Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office products
  • Experience in front-end web and digital design, including creating accessible and user-friendly layouts for websites and online platforms
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes within tight timeframes
  • Well-developed organisational skills and ability to contribute to project work under guidance
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively with stakeholders to interpret briefs and deliver design outputs
  • Demonstrated conceptual and analytical skills to support problem-solving and design development
  • Flexible and adaptable approach, with sound judgement to manage tasks effectively and contribute to innovative solutions
 
It is desirable if you have:
  • Relevant qualifications in visual communication, graphic design, or substantial practical experience
  • Familiarity with user experience or user-centred design practices, with a willingness to further develop skills in this area
  • Experience creating accessible and user-friendly web content, including layouts and digital assets
  • Understanding of government accessibility standards (WCAG) and commitment to applying them in design work
 
Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian citizens with an active Baseline security clearance prior to commencement.
