About the Role
This role focuses on the planning, design and transition of complex, mission-critical enterprise and operational networks, contributing to a major network modernisation initiative.

You’ll work alongside highly skilled architects and engineers in a collaborative, purpose-driven environment, tackling technically complex challenges and shaping end-to-end network services in a regulated, high-availability setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Translating prior managed network services experience into design, deployment and transition activities
  • Develop high-level, service-based architectural patterns aligned to customer requirements across enterprise and operational networks
  • Produce low-level architecture designs that implement the approved high-level architecture
  • Support and guide automated lab testing to validate network designs and performance
  • Create and execute transition and migration plans for critical services moving from legacy to new networks
  • Provide technical leadership for end-to-end network data service processes
  • Prepare and review site designs, including interconnection diagrams, rack layouts, bills of materials and associated artefacts
  • Communicate physical and logical network designs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Provide clear recommendations to meet network, security and regulatory requirements


Skills & Experience
Essential:
  • Australian Citizenship (mandatory) with eligibility to obtain security clearance up to NV1
  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred)
  • 8+ years’ experience designing, analysing and troubleshooting complex enterprise networks
  • 4+ years’ experience on large electronic systems integration projects
  • Strong telecommunications domain knowledge, including carrier services and provisioning
  • Experience with complex WAN and LAN architectures, including:
    • MPLS, Segment Routing, SD-WAN
    • SD-ACCESS
    • VXLAN and MPN
  • Hands-on experience with routing and firewall platforms (e.g. Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, Palo Alto, F5)
  • Strong understanding of networking and signalling protocols including:
    • IS-IS, BGP, OSPF
    • TCP/IP, IPv4 and emerging IPv6
    • VoIP, SIP, VPNs, DWDM
  • Experience participating in customer requirements reviews, design reviews, and test/acceptance events
  • Experience with network automation tools and methodologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to travel within Australia as required
 
Desirable Experience
  • Experience delivering defence, public safety or mission-critical systems
  • Exposure to systems engineering lifecycle methodologies
  • Experience with security and safety-critical programs
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary engineering environments
  • Proficiency with engineering documentation tools such as AutoCAD and Visio
  • Experience with voice communications systems (VoIP, radio, telephony)
  • Broader technical skills such as scripting, ICT, electronics or project management
