Peoplebank is exclusively recruiting a Chief Information Officer (CIO) on behalf of a respected, mission-driven not-for-profit organisation with a strong international footprint.

Our client is a well-established humanitarian not-for-profit organisation delivering critical services in complex and high-risk environments globally. Guided by principles of neutrality, independence and accountability, the organisation operates at scale and plays a vital role in supporting vulnerable communities through emergency response, advocacy and long-term impact programs.

With a growing reliance on secure, resilient and modern technology, the organisation is investing in its digital capability to support its people, partners and mission.

This is a newly created Chief Information Officer role and a rare opportunity to shape the technology, data and cybersecurity strategy of a purpose-led organisation operating in a global context. Reporting to the Executive Director and operating as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the CIO will be responsible for developing and delivering a comprehensive IT strategy that drives digital transformation while embedding strong cybersecurity and risk management practices across the organisation.

The role has oversight of IT, data and cybersecurity functions, including leadership of the data capability, and accountability for an annual technology budget.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop and execute an organisation-wide IT and cybersecurity strategy aligned to business and mission objectives
• Lead digital transformation initiatives that are secure, scalable and fit for purpose
• Own the organisation’s cybersecurity posture, resilience and incident response capability
• Enable the data function through strong governance, secure platforms and advanced analytics
• Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary technology team across IT, data and cybersecurity
• Manage strategic vendor relationships and ensure service quality, security and value for money
• Oversee technology budgets, forecasting and investment decisions
• Partner closely with executive leaders and the Board, providing clear advice and insight on technology, data and cyber risk

About You
You are a hands-on, pragmatic technology leader who is motivated by purpose and impact rather than title. You are comfortable operating in a smaller, agile environment, willing to roll up your sleeves, and able to engage confidently at executive and Board level.

You will bring:
• Extensive experience in senior IT leadership roles, including digital transformation and cybersecurity oversight
• Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, cloud platforms, systems integration and cyber risk management
• Proven experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets and optimising technology investment
• The ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, practical guidance for non-technical stakeholders
• A collaborative, servant-leader mindset aligned to not-for-profit values
• Experience in not-for-profit, NGO or globally connected organisations will be highly regarded

This role offers the opportunity to lead technology in an organisation where security, resilience and trust are paramount, and where technology directly enables meaningful humanitarian and community outcomes.
