About the Role:
Our Global IT Consulting Client is seeking a Business Analyst.
This is a full-time, permanent role, based in Canberra. You must be willing to work onsite 5 days a week.
As the selected candidate, you will:
- Collaborate with stakeholders, operational users, and subject matter experts to interpret, analyse, and validate detailed functional and non-functional requirements for Gateways and Guard solutions comprising next-generation firewalls and cross-domain guards
- Create, manage, and refine the product backlog and user stories in an agile delivery environment
- Facilitate agile ceremonies including story mapping, backlog refinement, sprint planning, and retrospectives
- Work alongside the Solution Architect to ensure requirements align with architectural vision and technical constraints
- Conduct gap analyses between current system capabilities and required FMN interoperability standards (NATO STANAGs)
- Develop comprehensive documentation including requirement specifications, process flows, and technical specifications
- Ensure requirements incorporate data-centric security principles and compliance with ISM security controls
- Support development and execution of UAT test plans
- Facilitate workshops and review sessions with stakeholders
- Act as liaison between product owners and technical teams to ensure shared understanding of scope and deliverables
- Assist in managing project scope, risks, issues, and changes
To be successful in this role you should have:
- Proven experience (typically 7+ years) as a Business Analyst in complex IT environments, preferably Defence or Government
- Experience working within Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe), including writing and managing user stories
- Strong understanding of requirements elicitation techniques and documentation standards
- Familiarity with security concepts, data classification, access control, and networking principles
- Ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory or compliance standards (e.g., NATO STANAGs, ISM)
- Proficiency with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Visio, DOORS or similar
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Flexible, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
It is desirable if you have:
- Relevant qualifications in information systems, engineering, or related fields
- Industry certifications such as CBAP, CSPO, PMI-PBA, or security certifications
- Prior experience in Defence, National Security, or NATO organisations
- Knowledge of cross-domain solutions (e.g., Isode M-Guard, Palo Alto Networks, ArchTis)
- Understanding of interoperability concepts in coalition contexts
Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian citizens with a current Baseline clearance and willingness to upgrade to NV1.
