Technical Cyber Business Analyst (Contract) Queensland State Government – 

The Opportunity Join a high-impact Cyber Security team delivering critical services across the Queensland Government.

You’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering whole-of-government cyber security initiatives, helping strengthen security capabilities, reduce risk, and uplift cyber maturity across agencies.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on enterprise-scale security programs in a collaborative, purpose-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities As a Technical Cyber Business Analyst, you will:
  • Bridge business needs with cyber and technology solutions including:
    • SIEM platforms
    • Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR)
    • Vulnerability Management tools
  • Analyse complex business processes, systems, and data to provide actionable insights
  • Capture and document business and technical requirements, ensuring successful delivery into BAU
  • Develop ‘As-Is’ and ‘To-Be’ process models and support solution design
  • Work closely with stakeholders across Queensland Government to deliver client-focused outcomes
  • Investigate problems and recommend solutions to enhance cyber security maturity and reduce risk
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives, programs, and operational improvements
  • Support and mentor junior business analysts where required
About You To succeed in this role, you will bring:
  • 5+ years’ experience as a Senior/Technical Business Analyst (ideally within Cyber Security)
  • Experience working within government, regulated, or complex environments(Qld Gov highly regarded)
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Cyber security concepts and risk
    • Cyber maturity frameworks
  • Proven experience in:
    • Business process modelling (As-Is / To-Be)
    • Requirements gathering and documentation
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and communication skills
  • Ability to analyse information from multiple sources and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations
  • Advanced skills in Visio (or similar) and Microsoft Office suite

Mandatory Requirements
