About the Role
Our Federal Government Client is currently seeking a Test Lead.
This is a long-term 12-month contract role with long-term extension options available if required, located at our client’s Canberra office.
As the selected candidate, you will:
- Guide team members to complete assigned tasks and lead by example by creating, executing and reporting on high-quality test artefacts such as requirements matrices, test cases, defects, complex test data etc. and ensuring adherence to section standards and guidelines.
- Identify, create and maintain documentation to support test delivery, meet reporting obligations, and define quality standards for the test team.
- Tailor your communication (written and verbal) to respective audiences.
- Contribute to strategic thinking and innovation within the team to increase efficiencies in delivery of quality outcomes, and advocate for the test team and its benefits across the organisation
- Provide technical advice on applications, systems, environments, data and tools (etc.) to the test team and stakeholders to facilitate test project delivery
- Coach, mentor, and provide on-the-job training to members of the test team
- Manage all facets of system and software testing across the Program, ensuring that software applications are deployed into service with zero defects and achieve a high standard of quality.
- Establish and maintain fit for purpose test processes to ensure the Program's application will be secure, functional, high performing (i.e. quick response times) and robust.
- Ensure there is traceability of tests to release canvases and business requirements.
- Manage and develop the testing program plans and testing deliverables according to the business priorities and release schedules.
- Manage and plan resource allocation to ensure testing resources are available to support the delivery of the Program's deliverables and planned activities.
- Collaborate with other business stakeholders to deliver high quality, business driven outcomes.
- Lead or participate in small teams to deliver improvements to the software delivery pipeline and to the specification of applications to improve software quality and its fitness for purpose.
- Critique software solution designs with a focus on usability, testability, maintainability, resilience, security, and performance In particular enhance existing systems in response to production issues, technical debt repayments, and changing business requirements.
- Develop comprehensive documentation and performing testing to demonstrate built software and support successful system implementations.
- Lead the quality assurance review of requirements and specifications, conducting analysis and test planning to ensure appropriate test coverage.
- Assist the Test Manager in conducting resource planning activities to ensure testing resources are available to support the delivery of the organisation's projects and planned activities
To be successful in this role you should have:
- Four years or more experience in testing or quality assurance role
- Experience with different delivery methodologies including Agile and DevOps
- Experience with technologies including Selenium, Java, Xray, Jira, DevOps, Big Data Technologies, NiFi, Kibana, Elastic and Hbase
- Suitable ISTQB or equivalent certifications
Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian citizens holding an NV1 clearance (or a baseline clearance, willing to undergo an NV1 clearance at their own expense).
