About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Technical Assistant (Radio Communications Technician) to support the rollout of the Emergency Services Radio Network (ESRN) project. This role involves hands-on technical work with radio communication equipment, including preparation, installation, testing, staging, delivery, and user familiarisation. You will play a key part in ensuring smooth delivery of radio terminal devices and communication network upgrades in line with project strategies and timelines.
Job Responsibilities
- Install, configure, test, and stage radio communication equipment in facilities and field locations.
- Assist with construction and mechanical support arrangements for specialised radio equipment.
- Prepare technical documentation and contribute to process improvements.
- Provide basic technical advice and support on radio terminal devices.
- Manage asset receipt, dispatch, and audit, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance.
- Coordinate logistics for equipment delivery, including installation and testing on site.
- Supervise project team and external service providers in stores/facilities when required.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and information security policies.
- Undertake manual handling tasks, including lifting and moving equipment up to 10kg.
Required Skills
- Experience with installation, configuration, and testing of radio/electronic communication equipment.
- Knowledge of asset management processes and documentation.
- Ability to coordinate logistics and supervise daily activities in a warehouse or technical environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate and recommend improvements.
- Good communication skills to liaise with stakeholders and provide technical support.
- Willingness to undertake manual handling tasks (lifting/moving equipment up to 10kg).
- Familiarity with IT security and compliance practices.
- Flexibility to participate in vendor/manufacturer training and adapt to project requirements.
