About the Role: Our Federal Government Client is seeking a Senior Security Systems Engineer. This is a long-term contract role with an initial 12-month contract, with two 12-month extension options, located at our client’s sites across ACT, VIC or NSW, with onsite working arrangements.
As the selected candidate, you will:
• Work across multiple Australian Government entities to deliver expert security advice and uplift system security from Official to Top Secret classifications.
• Design, implement and remediate security controls across a broad suite of technologies.
• Develop technical documentation, including SOPs, design documents, change requests and as-built/as-configured materials.
• Facilitate and participate in workshops focused on security engineering design and remediation.
• Develop and test prototype security configurations to inform security guidance.
• Implement security controls aligned to client’s ISM, Essential Eight, and other industry standards.
To be successful in this role you should have:
• Minimum 7 years’ experience as a Systems Engineer.
• Strong experience designing, implementing or remediating one or more of the following:
– Microsoft Active Directory
– Networking, Gateway or Software-Defined Networking
– Cross Domain Solutions and/or Diodes
– Sentinel or Splunk
– Enterprise Linux/Unix (e.g., RHEL)
– Cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP)
– Complex Windows Enterprise Environments
• Ability to work independently and effectively in hybrid or remote teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience producing technical documentation and executive-level reporting.
• Ability to provide direction and clarity of purpose to team members.
• Ability to illustrate how operational tasks align to organisational and program goals.
• Experience setting tasks for others that align with strategic outcomes.
It is desirable if you have:
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, or equivalent certifications/industry training.
• Experience identifying, implementing and applying cyber security controls.
Security Requirements Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian citizens with an NV2 or TSPV clearance.
